Loss of
University Playing Fields at Maiden Castle
To mitigate the
inevitable flooding by building unneeded luxury housing on
the greenfield site at Elvet Waterside, the developers are going to
cut back the bank of the River Wear at Maiden Castle abutting
Durham University’s playing fields at the Graham Sports Centre
which will result in a substantial loss of the University playing
fields. See photo.
